WELCOME TO
Holiday Classics
Welcome to the holiday edit
This year we’re bringing back the classics: reds, greens, and satin bows. Kraft paper packages tied up in string. You know how it goes, these are a few of our favourite things.
How it works
This year’s holiday drop is about the holiday classics. If you’ve been with us for a while, you may have seen these styles before. But this year, we’re going to tell you the stories behind them and how they came to be.
As you scroll along, you’ll be able to browse the entire holiday collection and learn about the inspiration behind them (like an editorial!). But if none of that is interesting to you, you’re also welcome to skip and go directly to the shop. If that’s what you wish to do, just tap the button below.

You’ll find commentary written in first-person throughout this laid out editorial. That’s because all of the designs came from a personal experience.
Thank you for taking the time to read. Writing is one of the oldest ways to communicate, and it’s what we do best.

Chapter 1
Baby & Kids
Free spirit
We made the Baby Tiffany with oversized black organza straps that can tie over the shoulders and span out in incredible shape and volume. Because we wanted to create something dramatic, but in a classy, timeless sort of way. The Baby Tiffany is part drama, part whimsy, and all-round stunner - it’s where red carpet meets playground.
Pair it with any solid top, or even one with a simple pattern. Stick with neutral coloured tops, shades of white or beige work best. Like tulle, organza photographs wonderfully, wonderfully well.
I’ve always wanted to incorporate organza into our products. Like tulle, it’s airy and plays well with light. Unlike tulle though, organza is very much a free spirit; it will not fold or sit in a specific way, it will span and spread out however it likes. That makes organza very hard to work with, but also an amazing fabric for character.
The Tiffany is made with oversized organza straps, intended to tie over the shoulders with plenty left so that the wingtip ends can run and dance along with your little one. Out of all of our designs, Tiffany is probably the spunkiest.

Audrey inspired
Baby Audrey is an impeccable classic: made with playful polka dot poms scattered like confetti on a linen-like cotton top layer, and adorned with an oversized satin bow a little off to the side. It’s the kind of heartwarming style we can always count on, like a good holiday movie with a happy ending, or Audrey Hepburn’s sense of style.
Pair it with any solid top or a knit sweater, earthy tones would work best.
I wanted to design a style that’s truly timeless and impeccably textured. Something that catches your eye not because it’s shiny and fancy, but it draws you in because of something more subtle - you almost have to look closer to find out what it is. So instead of adding colour or shine, I added texture and contrast. The detail is what makes the Baby Audrey such a classic.

True classic
Baby Celine is the quintessential tutu: it’s light, airy, and incredibly soft - made with what we call, wispy tulle. The waistband is beautifully made with scalloped edges and hugs the little one’s belly with a velvety soft side. It’s all around a well made, functional, and brings-a-smile tutu.
Baby Celine was our very first product. I wanted a tutu for my baby that was soft and poufy. I went to the big stores and found tulle that was floppy or scratchy, nothing like what I had in mind. So I made my own tutu with tulle that I hand picked, and that was the start of Bluish.
Our very first Baby Celine though, was nothing like what we make now. I had no plans to really develop a product at the time. I knew very little about selling, nothing about tulle, and I barely knew what Instagram was.
We’ve poured a ton of thought into it, so that the Baby Celine today is as beautiful and functional as it is.
Our very first trade show was at the Baby Show in Toronto back in 2016. At our first show, we sold 1 skirt. It was a Grand Celine in pink. I went back home with full bins of tutu, not quite sure what to do next.
A few days later, someone e-mailed me looking to buy a tutu from us online. It was all thanks to her, I created an online store right away. From there on, one thing led to another and almost 7 years later, here we are.

Sparkle done right
Do you remember that saying: Leave a bit of sparkle wherever you go? Well, when it happens literally, it’s no fun. Baby Noelle is sparkly, without the mess of glitter. The tutu is made with a unique fabric that resembles silver terrazzo. The silver detail is pressed on to the fabric (not glued!) in a terrazzo pattern. Magical for your little one and no sweeping for you.
We’re so proud of the Baby Noelle. Because it’s a clean way to think about sparkles and it keeps our little ones happy.
It was around the holidays when my little girl wanted a glittery dress. She saw one at the store and asked me sweetly if we could buy it. After a lot of hesitation, I finally said yes. She was overjoyed.
We brought it home and she wore it immediately. It turned out to be a glitter bomb. There was glitter all over our floors, our couch, and our clothes. I asked her not to wear the dress at home after that. She was disappointed, so I wondered, why don’t we make a sparkly tutu - but better? The kind that sparkles and nothing falls off.
So that was the inspiration behind the Baby Noelle - all of the sparkle, none on the floor. And now we’re all happy.

Baby doll
Baby Avery is the quintessential tutu dress: it’s light, airy, and incredibly soft - made with what we call, wispy tulle. Baby doll shaped and easy-to-wear, your little one can look photo ready while being wild and free.
Baby Chloe is the baby dress version of the Baby Tiffany. Made with narrow organza straps that can tie over the shoulders and span out like wing tips - it’s where red carpet meets nursery rhymes.
We made these dresses for our extra little ones. They’re just as comfortable as our tutu skirts, without having to worry about matching tops.
I started Bluish with tutu skirts. At the time, my baby was growing out of her clothes rapidly. I thought tutu skirts were the best thing because I didn’t have to worry about fit as much, unlike fitted dresses and zipper closures.
But as time went by, I realized the need for a tutu dress, too. Because it’s not always easy finding a matching top. That’s how our Baby Avery started - no zipper, generous sizing, and slips right over the head. Just as beautiful, too!

Chapter 2
Women’s
Feminine
Chelsea is the stunning soft tulle skirt that drapes and flows with your every move, with a goddess-like thigh high slit. The layers are thick and rich, swaying along as you glide from one place to the next, casually but certainly accentuating your femininity.
I’ve tried on every style we make. And the Madison is my go to, because it drapes beautifully and it’s very easy to style. I wore my Madison in Black to a work party one time, it was dark inside and my skirt was even darker. I felt my whole outfit got a little lost that night, I was wearing black on black in a very dark room, squished with lots of people. Maybe it wasn’t just my outfit that was lost though. Maybe it was a turning point for me, too. I’d been stuck in the same corporate rut for a while, knowing that it wasn’t right for me.
When I decided to leave, that was when we made the Chelsea. I simply added a slit to the Madison. I didn’t take away nor add embellishments, I simply opened up the skirt. The thigh-high slit is subtle, unless you look for it you might miss it. But once there’s movement, it’s undeniably beautiful.

Joy & heartbreak
Signature Celine is the quintessential modern tulle skirt: light and structured with a flattering A-line shape. Made to lift your spirits and bring a smile, reminding you of simpler times and childhood dreams.
By now you’ve probably heard about our story, how it all started with the baby blues. The Signature Celine has been here from the start, it is the original symbol of joy and heartbreak for us. We’ve kept most of its features, like the 5 layers of tulle and satin lining. And we’ve changed a few things, like the waistband from tulle-wrapped to just satin. We’re so proud of what this tulle skirt symbolizes. We hope that it still brings joy, just like it did all those years ago.
The Signature Celine was one of our very first products alongside the Baby Celine. It’s still one of my absolute favourites. Why? Because it’s the quintessential tulle skirt that combines comfort and fun. After I gave birth for the first time, I was shocked. I was amazed by what my body was capable of - growing and birthing new life. But the aftermath and how my body changed also left me very confused.
When I wanted to buy a pretty tulle skirt to match with my mini, I only found bespoke options with zipper closure. With how my body was changing, just the thought of closing a zipper was stressful. Tulle skirts with elastic waistbands though, they were often costume quality, the kind you can get from a party store.
So I created my own - a bridal quality tulle skirt with a well made elastic waistband. It would be the kind of tulle skirt that I would wear to weddings and parties and feel comfortable in all night long. And that became our very own, best selling tulle skirt - Signature Celine.

Try softer
Maddie is the easy to wear soft tulle skirt that drapes and flows with your every move. It’s a tulle skirt that feels rich and soft without the pouf and whimsy. If you don’t like drama, Maddie’s the understated tulle skirt that you’re looking for.
More and more, we are learning that understated styles are sometimes the most beautiful. Like getting to know a friend, or falling in love slowly. It might not seem like a lot at first, but there’s so much more.
When Bluish was just starting, I was often asked about the pouf on our tulle skirts: Will it be too much? Will it suit my build? Can we take in the pouf a bit? For our signature poufy styles, that was the way they were intended to look, so we had to say no a lot.
But I quickly learned that pouf is not for everyone. So we made a few tulle skirts with soft tulle instead. That was the beginning of our soft tulle skirts - they drape and sway beautifully with every move. The Madison is the long version, and the Maddie is the just below knee version. The soft tulle skirt turned out to be a crowd pleaser and an understated favourite. It’s also a testament to listening and trying a softer approach.

Chapter 3
Mini Me
Space in between
Celine Mini Me is the versatile set that can be worn together or separately. Made to flatter, the tulle skirt for mama is uniform and structured, and the tutu for babe is whimsical and soft. This set combines the best of both worlds: Matching but not exactly the same. Together but not lost in the other.
The Celine Mini Set was our very first product. It started with my firstborn, when I wanted to dress the both of us in tulle skirts. I wanted a soft and poufy tutu for her and a stylish looking one for myself. But anything cute and poufy for her was also harsh and stiff. The material was unforgiving and felt wrong for baby’s skin. And anything soft and delicate for her also looked floppy and unimpressive. As for myself, I could only find bespoke tulle skirts that were expensive and had a zipper closure. I was about 6 months postpartum at the time, my body was still fluctuating dramatically. The thought of squeezing into a zipper closure waist took all the fun out of a tulle skirt.
So I designed my own. A mommy and me set that would have everything that I was looking for - a super soft and poufy tutu for our little ones, combined with a bridal quality tulle skirt with clean lines and an elastic waist for us. This became our Celine Mini Met set.
