  • Designed by Sarah in Canada, made by Amanda & team in China and Monica in Canada.

A bit about Amanda & her team: Amanda runs a family owned business in a simple 3 storey building in Dongguan, Guangzhou. The bottom floor is for fabric cutting, the middle floor is for sewing, and the top floor is for resting. All of the cutting, sewing, and packaging is done by a small group of family members and local hires.

Monica is our local seamstress located in Markham, Ontario. She does all of our needlework and finishes. Monica carefully prepares the floral straps with cotton backing and then sews them on to the skirt. Monica then carefully positions and hand stitches each butterfly applique on to the straps. This kind of detailed work is what Monica is really good at.

  • Last summer, we took the kids to the west coast. Our little one wasn’t able to travel prior to that summer due to a health condition, so we were all exceedingly excited about the trip. When we got to the west coast, we were captured by the natural beauty and boisterous trees. We hiked a lot, through forests, historical land, and a fairy village. What caught me the most was the dappled sun. Rays of light that shone through the canopy of trees, spotlighting butterflies and bits of life. This dress is meant to capture that sense of warmth and quiet, but abundant life.
